Poultry Partners' continue efforts to protect farmers
You should be aware that on Thursday, March 23, Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson was granted permission in the federal district court for the Northern District of Oklahoma to “begin discovery immediately” in the lawsuit he has filed against the poultry industry. We believe the Attorney General’s next step, which may happen as early as the week of March 27, will be to issue subpoenas to 21 poultry growers/farms in the Illinois River watershed to allow the Attorney General to take samples of soil, surface water runoff, groundwater and litter. Some of these activities may be on going and the Attorney General has stated he wants to install actual monitoring wells on each grower’s land. If you are a member of Poultry Partners and you receive a subpoena and if you object to the Attorney General’s proposed sampling, please call Poultry Partners’ attorneys Michael Graves and/or Ken Williams at 918-594-0400.
If you have questions or concerns, feel free to call me 918-422-4030.
